A well-formed décolleté is inextricably linked to the image of a woman. If women perceive their breasts as a flaw due to their size or shape, this can lead to psychological stress and a drop in self-confidence. If the too small or sagging breasts do not correspond to the proportions of the rest of the body, the desire for breast augmentation is particularly pronounced.
Dr. Lars Schumacher has specialized in breast augmentation for 20 years. Depending on the patient's natural conditions and personal expectations, Dr. Schumacher recommends breast augmentation with silicone implants or breast augmentation with autologous fat.
Frequently asked questions about breast augmentation with autologous fat in Mannheim
In breast augmentation with autologous fat, we harvest the body's own fatty tissue from a previously defined donor area. The classic "problem areas" such as the hips, stomach, bottom or thighs are particularly suitable for this. The fat cells obtained are then processed in a special procedure and carefully injected into the breast via the underbust crease.
After breast augmentation with autologous fat, some of the transplanted fat cells are broken down by the body. However, a large proportion is absorbed by the breast tissue and provides more volume there permanently.
Breast augmentation with autologous fat is a gentle alternative if you do not want implants or if only a small increase in volume is desired. The downtime is also considerably less with this surgical method. If this is an important point for you, we will be happy to advise you in Mannheim on breast augmentation with autologous fat.
A prerequisite for a successful procedure is that the body's own fat deposits are sufficient. Breast augmentation with autologous fat is therefore not always possible for very slim women. In this case, a classic breast augmentation with implants is a better option.
Before breast augmentation with autologous fat in Mannheim, Dr. Schumacher will advise you in detail. He will discuss with you whether autologous fat treatment is the right treatment method for you and what the exact procedure might look like. The operation will then be planned together with you.
As a rule, the procedure in Mannheim can be performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. For larger procedures or at the patient's request, breast augmentation under general anesthesia is also possible.
Breast surgery consists of two steps. First, Dr. Schumacher harvests the required autologous fat from the previously determined areas. The fatty tissue is then prepared and carefully injected into the target region using fine cannulas. Over the following weeks, some of the fat cells grow, while the rest is broken down by the body. Dr. Schumacher takes this into account when planning the treatment.
Breast augmentation with autologous fat only causes minimal downtime. You can return to work after just a few days, provided you do not carry out any strenuous activities. In the first few weeks, you should take a break from sport and wear the prescribed compression garments at all times. We can assess the final result in Mannheim around 2 - 3 months after breast augmentation with autologous fat.

Blood-thinning medication and painkillers (e.g. aspirin) must be discontinued at least two weeks before the breast augmentation. We also advise you to abstain from nicotine and alcohol before and after the operation. Apart from this, no specific preparation for the operation is necessary on your part.
After breast augmentation with autologous fat, you should allow for a downtime of a few days. After this, most of our patients are able to work and socialize again. However, you should take a break from sports and physically strenuous activities for a few more weeks.
We also recommend avoiding the solarium, sauna and sunbathing for a few weeks after the procedure. You will wear a special compression garment for around 6 weeks to support the treatment result and ensure complication-free healing.
The results of breast augmentation with autologous fat are permanent. Once fat cells have grown, they remain in the breast for the long term and are not broken down by the body. In individual cases, however, the breast volume may decrease again at a later date, particularly after significant weight loss. We therefore advise you not to plan breast augmentation until you have already reached your comfortable weight.
Just a few days after breast augmentation, you will be largely fit for work and social life again. You should take a break from sport for at least 3 - 4 weeks. You can then carefully resume light activities such as cycling or walking.
Breast augmentation with autologous fat is generally a very low-risk procedure. No foreign materials are used, so that intolerances are ruled out.
In rare cases, inflammation, post-operative bleeding or wound healing disorders may occur after the operation. Scars do not usually occur, as Dr. Schumacher injects the autologous fat using the finest cannulas. Nevertheless, you should protect the breast region from direct sunlight for a few weeks after the operation, as UV radiation could impair wound healing.
Possible side effects of the procedure may include swelling, redness and bruising at the extraction and injection sites. There may also be a slight temporary feeling of tension, for which we will be happy to prescribe a painkiller as a precaution.
