A harmonious and well-proportioned body silhouette is part of many people's sense of well-being. A healthy, balanced diet and sufficient exercise can help to achieve this. However, we often find that some fat deposits do not disappear despite dieting and regular exercise. This can be very frustrating and severely affect your general well-being.  The main purpose of liposuction is to permanently remove such fat deposits.  Depending on the personal requirements (amount of fat to be removed, number and distribution of the areas to be removed), Dr. Lars Schumacher recommends performing the treatment in one or more stages. The aim is to work together with the patient to achieve the best possible result and thus improve the patient's well-being.

Dr. Lars Schumacher has successfully performed liposuction over the last 20 years and has therefore acquired specialist knowledge in the use of various suction techniques. In his opinion, the most effective and gentle procedure is vibration-assisted liposuction in combination with the tumescent technique.

In aesthetic surgery, a question of trust is essential; the success of every procedure is based on a confidential consultation in which your wishes and expectations are the focus.

We will be happy to provide you with detailed information. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

In which areas of the body can liposuction be performed?

In principle, liposuction is suitable for all areas of the body where small fat deposits persist. We often treat the abdomen, hips, waist, buttocks, thighs, knees, calves and ankles during liposuction. If several areas of the body are to be treated, we may perform liposuction in several individual steps.

However, liposuction is not suitable for losing weight. Ideally, you should therefore already have largely reached your personal feel-good weight when we plan your liposuction in Mannheim.

How is liposuction performed in Mannheim?

The preliminary consultation for liposuction

We plan your liposuction in Mannheim in detail and individually. To do this, Dr. Schumacher will first have a preliminary discussion with you and find out exactly which areas are currently bothering you. He will then discuss the treatment options with you. For example, it may make sense to perform liposuction in several stages. You will also be informed in detail about the risks of liposuction, the costs and the expected results.

Liposuction procedure

Liposuction itself takes on average around 1 - 3 hours and can often be performed on an outpatient basis. For larger procedures, treatment under general anesthesia with a short hospital stay may be advisable.

The areas to be treated are marked on the skin before liposuction. Dr. Schumacher injects a tumescent solution into the treatment areas to loosen the fat cells and make them easier to remove. He then gently sucks out the fatty tissue using special vibrating cannulas. This procedure allows him to perform liposuction in Mannheim gently, efficiently and with excellent aesthetic results.

After liposuction

After the procedure, most patients can leave our practice on the same day. You should take it easy physically, but can resume light professional and private activities after just a few days. You should only take a break from sport for at least a month. You will be fitted with special compression garments that support the results of the treatment and should be worn around the clock if possible.

Frequently asked questions about liposuction in Mannheim

Liposuction is a routine procedure at our practice in Mannheim. Dr. Schumacher has been performing liposuction at the highest medical level for 20 years and has specialist knowledge in the use of various suction techniques. This gives you the assurance that you are in the best hands at our practice in Mannheim.

As with any operation, complications such as post-operative bleeding or wound healing disorders can never be completely ruled out with liposuction. However, serious complications are very rare if the procedure is carried out professionally.

Immediately after the procedure, there may be temporary sensory disturbances or occasional bruising. However, both should only be short-lived. Severe pain is also not to be expected after liposuction. However, we will be happy to prescribe you a suitable painkiller as a precaution.

Light activities, for example in the office, can be resumed just a few days after liposuction. You should take a break from sport and other intensive physical activities for at least 4 weeks in consultation with your doctor.

After liposuction in Mannheim, we recommend that you take a few days off. After that, you can resume light activities. You should take it easy physically and wear the prescribed compression garments around the clock if possible.

It is also important that you avoid going to the sauna and solarium for a few weeks. Direct sunlight can also affect the results of the treatment.

We carry out regular follow-up checks after liposuction in Mannheim to ensure that healing is proceeding without complications. The final result can be assessed after around 6 months.

The results of liposuction are permanent. Once fat cells have been removed, they do not grow back. Nevertheless, fat deposits may reappear in individual cases, for example as a result of significant weight gain. We therefore recommend that you only plan liposuction once you have reached your comfortable weight and to keep it as constant as possible after the procedure.
