In a detailed preliminary consultation, Dr. Schumacher will discuss with you what is currently bothering you and how the drooping eyelids can be corrected. An individual treatment plan will then be drawn up. Dr. Schumacher will provide you with comprehensive information about the risks, aftercare and the expected results.

As a rule, eyelid lifting can be performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. At the patient's request, treatment under twilight sleep or general anesthesia is also possible. Dr. Schumacher makes a short incision along the eyelid crease, through which he then removes the prolapsed fat pads and any excess skin. The surgical wounds are sutured using scar-saving incision techniques, and after a short rest you can drive home.

Slight wound pain may occur in the following days, but this is usually limited. We will prescribe you a suitable painkiller in advance. Initial swelling and bruising usually subside quickly with cooling. Most of our patients can return to work after just a few days. You should only take a longer break from intensive activities and sport.

The cost of an upper eyelid lift varies depending on the patient's circumstances. Dr. Schumacher plans each treatment individually, so we cannot give you a fixed price in advance.

The correction of drooping eyelids is not associated with pain due to the anesthesia. Even after the operation, experience has shown that the pain is limited. Of course, we will still be happy to prescribe a painkiller for you to take as required.

As a rule, the swelling has subsided to such an extent after approx. 2 weeks that patients are fully socially acceptable again. It is important that the eye area is cooled during the first few days. The cold effectively counteracts swelling and bruising.

Drooping eyelid surgery is a comparatively low-risk procedure. The prerequisite for a successful operation is that the surgeon performing the procedure is appropriately specialized and highly experienced. In rare cases, complications such as secondary bleeding, inflammation or wound healing disorders can occur despite all caution. Slight feelings of pressure or tension and blurred vision are also possible immediately after drooping eyelid correction. These side effects usually disappear after a few days with cooling.
